These children commonly complain of headaches but rarely cry or express their fears openly. Rather, they experience stress internally and silently suffer while trying to live up to expectations.

The second category of children exhibits stress openly. Such children are emotionally expressive and sensitive. As a result of exam pressure, they become tearful, clingy, and extremely demanding of reassurance. They commonly seek solace, extra hugs, or want to sleep in their parents’ room during the exam period. Besides headaches, their stress can also manifest in their digestive tracts. Parents commonly report stomachaches, vomiting, or diarrhea around the time of the exams.

The third group of children may start becoming irritable and even aggressive, both verbally and physically. Parents might observe that the child is picking a fight with the siblings, throwing tantrums or waking up from sleep with nightmares. The child might become very inattentive towards studies and have trouble focusing.
